Toffee On The Run began as a goal in the heart of an eight-year-old girl to raise money for a plane ticket and a mission trip to Senegal, Africa. Only five weeks later, she had surpassed her goals, and wasn’t stopping there. An official toffee-making business was born.
TOTR makes, markets, and ships multiple flavors of toffee nationwide, and continues to grow in popularity. “Everyone loves toffee. Even people who say they don’t like it end up loving it after they try it. It’s so much fun to put a smile on peoples’ face.”
Now, four years later, this business owner is ready to pass the spoon onto another young entrepreneur. “I feel like I’ve learned so much by having a business. I want to share this knowledge and sense of accomplishment with another kid.” says 12 year old Julie.
Do you know a young someone who has the drive to own their own business? Toffee On The Run is well-established and excited for a new chapter of it’s life with it’s next owner.
Q: What am I receiving with this business purchase?
A: You are getting the website (with a one time modification made to meet your needs), the facebook page, the email address, all business contacts, all the recipes and ideas for new recipes, a banner, the kitchen supplies, and many packaging supplies (mailer envelopes, clear containers, boxes, valentine cartons, label tags, heat stickers, etc). You have the option to also have the tent and tablecloths (if you want to do events.)
Q: What else will I need before I can start making money?
A: Because we can’t transfer our county and state business licenses, you’ll need to purchase those. They are relatively inexpensive. You will also need access to an approved kitchen, or a federally approved kitchen if you plan on shipping nationwide. Sometimes you can rent these by the hour from a local restaurant or B&B. Some towns have approved kitchens that anyone can rent. Or you can talk to your local health inspector about creating your own.
Q: How will I learn how to make toffee?
A: We plan on either bringing your new business to you, or having you come visit us. (We will provide lodging for your family while in town.) Julie will teach you all there is to know, and will be available for future questions.
Q: What does the budget look like?
A: On average, each piece of toffee costs $1.25 to make, and sells for $6.00. We will provide you with full disclosure of the last 3 years of income and expenses. Just so you know, Julie averages almost $13,000 a year, working 4 events plus individual sales.
Q: What do I do if I’m interested?
A: On average, a healthy business sells for 2.5x it’s yearly income. That would make this business technically worth $33,000. We are not interested in what it is technically worth. So, if you are a kiddo with ambition and vision, who thinks this might be the best thing ever, please email us at email@example.com and tell us a little bit about yourself, and what draws you to this idea. We are extremely interested in finding the right fit for this opportunity, therefore the price is negotiable.
